Inserting Text

In this Task

  • Text will be inserted to annotate the floorplan.
  • The Roof layer is switched off for this task.

Before you Start

  • When using an architectural template, the text will automatically be drawn on the ‘Text’ layer.
  • Turn the view to World Plan.

Take Note

  • The floor plan was drawn at full scale. Text will be inserted using a similar scale.
  • Menu options for the Default menu and workspace, the Ribbon and Palettes are provided directly under the Command Name heading.

 

Text

Ribbon : Draw | Text | Text
Default Menu : Draw | Text | Text
Palette : Panels Setup | Text | Text
Text is inserted into the graphics editor by justifying the Left, Center or Right position.A height and rotation angle is input into the data fields of the Inspector Bar or the dynamic Input FieldsMultiple lines of text can be input by using ENTER at the end of each line.The text string and properties can be modified using the Properties sheet.
 

Switch off the Roof layer using the Design Director.

Select the Text tool using the menu options above, then tab to the Height field and input 700.

Zoom in to the Lounge area and left click to position to the text label, shown below.

Using your preferred font, input ‘Lounge‘ into the area shown above, then press enter.

The result is shown below.

Repeat this until the text adequately describes the area, similar to the illustration below.
