Activity Overview

During this session you will learn how to :

  • Insert an underlay drawing in the form of a pdf into the editor.
  • This underlay image will be ‘traced’ to produce a conceptual sketch.
  • Geometric and Dimensional Constraints will be added to control the spatial relationship between objects.
  • The sketch will be updated using the Variables palette
  • An extrusion will be created of the sketch which will be modified using the Variables palette.

Introducing

The following tools will be used during this Session :

  • Using the Underlay Manager.
  • Inserting an Underlay.
  • Using Auto Constraints.
  • Adding Geometric & Dimensional Constraints to the sketch.
  • Updating the sketch using the Variables palette.

Information

  • This is mostly a 2D Tutorial, but basic elements of 3D are used to illustrate the power of using Constraints.
  • The use of TurboCAD 3D design tools is discussed and demonstrated in great detail in the TurboCAD 3D Training Guide.
  • You will be required to use both a TurboCAD drawing and an underlay pdf for this session. Please download the drawings and pdf in the Print/Preview section above.
  • Menu options for the Default menu and workspace, the Ribbon and Palettes are provided directly under the Command Name heading.
