EXTEND ORTHO Snap Mode

In this Task

  • A slot will be drawn using extended orthogonal points to project to and from.

Associated Tasks

  • Drawing a rectangle with blended corners pre-set to a radius 6.

Before you Start

  • Right click onto the Snap tab and activate the Vertex snap mode.
  • Activate the Extended Ortho snap in the Geometric Aids tab.

Take Note

  • Magnetic points and auxiliary lines will appear for each apparent snap mode which is activated. If there are too many magnetic points and auxiliary lines, activate only the vertex snap mode for this task.

 

Extended Ortho

Right-click onto the GEO tab at the base of the editor. Make sure the Vertex and Extended Ortho snaps are activated. At the top right of the Drawing Aids dialog box, check that ‘Show Magnetic Point and Auxiliary Lines‘ is activated.

Select the Rectangle tool from the menu options above. Select the Fillet Corners option in the Inspector Bar and set the Radius to 6 and press Enter.

Position the cursor in the position indicated below and pause while the vertex magnetic point and the dashed projection lines appear, shown below. Do not left click at this stage.

Move the cursor to the left and allow the auxiliary lines to track to the vertex indicated below.

Move the cursor to the projected point indicated below, then left click to start the upper right corner of the rectangle. Pause the cursor until the magnetic point and the projection lines are visible, but do not left click.

Use the keyboard TAB key to access the Size A field and input a value of 12.5 and press Enter. The result is shown below.
