Inserting Doors & Windows

In this Task

  • Doors and Windows will be inserted into the Walls.

Before you Start

  • Snaps are not required for positioning doors and windows.

Take Note

  • The Architectural template will ensure all walls, doors and windows are drawn on the relevant layers.
  • Menu options for the Default menu and workspace, the Ribbon and Palettes are provided directly under the Command Name heading.

 

Inserting Doors

Ribbon : Architecture | Openings | Door
Default Menu : Architecture | Doors, Windows & Openings | Door
Palette : Panels Setup | Architecture | Door
The Door tool allow exact placement of doors into pre drawn walls, breaking the wall on insertion. The door will automatically align itself to the wall into which it is being inserted.The Door type can be specified prior to insertion by right clicking onto the Door tool and applying the appropriate settings.
 

Single doors will be inserted into approximate positions within the newly created walls.

Right click onto the Door tool and in the General page set the style to Single. In the Door Mains page, set the width to 900 and the height to 2100.

Insert the single doors in a similar manner to those shown in the illustration below, taking care to adjust the Flip Right/Left and Flip Inside/Option at the base of the graphics editor.

Select the Door tool and select the Double option. Insert a double door shown in the illustration below.

Updating Individual Door Sizes

Individual door sizes can be modified after insertion by selecting the door to be changed and using the Properties sheet. In this example, the double doors shown by the arrow above will be resized.

Select the Door, then using the Properties Sheet or the Selection Info palette, update the door size, shown below. The width of this door was changed from 900 to 1200, shown below.

Take Note

When changing the size of doors using the Selection Info palette, all doors of the same style will be updated in the drawing. This also applies to doors when using the Style Manager palette.

Inserting Windows

Palette : Panels Setup | Architecture | Window
The Window tool allow exact placement of windows into pre drawn walls, breaking the wall on insertion. The window will automatically align itself to the wall into which it is being inserted.The Window type can be specified prior to insertion by right clicking onto the Window tool and applying the appropriate settings.More information on Inserting Windows 
 

Right click onto the Window tool and from the General page, select the Standard style. From the Window Mains page, set the width to 1500 and the height to 1500.

Insert windows in the approximate positions to those shown below. Window width 1 is 1500; Windows width 2 is 1200 and Window width 3 is 750.
