Layer Properties

Toolbar found at the top of the editor. Object/s must be pre-selected.

Layers are used so that objects drawn on that layer can be switched on or off. This controls the layers’ visibility. Similarly, the accessibility of objects can be controlled by locking or unlocking the layer.

Frequently, creating the sketch objects on one layer is quick and easy. At the completion of the sketch however, lines with specific features such as center lines should be place on a layer specifically created for that purpose.

In the Student 2D template from which this drawing was created, is a layer called CL onto which all layers representing center lines should be placed.

Using the Select tool, select the horizontal center line, then hold down the SHIFT keyboard key and select the other 2 lines which represent center lines, shown below.

When all three lines are enclosed in the Selector Shell, select the CL layer from the Design Director at the right of the editor, shown below. Press ESCAPE to discard the Selector Shell and complete the task.

The result is shown below.

Use the Dash Scale value in the Selection Info palette to adjust the scale of the line if necessary.

Take Note

The layer menu in the Property toolbar at the top left the editor can also be used to change the layer properties of selected objects. The Selection Info Palette can also be used to change the layer properties of selected objects. Select the objects, then double-click onto the required layer in the Design Director.
