Creating an Extrusion

Ribbon : Draw | Draw 3D | Simple Extrude
Default Menu : Draw | 3D Object | 3D Profile Based | Simple Extrude
Palette : 3D Model | 3D Object | Simple Extrude
This extrusion tool sweeps a 2D profile in a plane perpendicular to the workplane to create a 3D object.

An extrusion will be created of the exploded block (Part 1 Sketch) which now forms a continual polyline. This will result in an extruded height of 12.

Select Simple Extruded from the Draw | Draw 3D menu, then set the layer to Part 1 Model, shown below.

Setting the layer ‘Part_1_Model’ as the current layer

Select the profile then TAB to the Height field and input 12. Press enter.

The result is shown below. Dimension is shown for illustrative clarity only.

Profile extruded to a height of 12

Take Note

When the profile is seated on the Workplane and the User-CS shows the Y axis perpendicular to the Workplane, then the extrusion height will be a positive value.

If a below-workplane extrusion is required, the extrusion height will be a negative value.
