Naming an Assembly

In this Task 

All the components will be selected to create an assembly. 

The components will be displayed from different viewpoints in the drafting palette viewing pane. 

Before you Start 

The Assembly is displayed in wireframe mode, shown below left.

View is set to any Isometric view.

All components are visible. Use the layer control within the Design Director.

Creating & Naming an Assembly

Tools | Palettes | Drafting (select object/part)
A full assembly or sub-assembly can be created from several components, known as parts.

Use the Design Director to display all the layers which form the assembled components, shown below.

When all parts are displayed fully assembled in the workspace, select the Create/Part Assembly option to define this as an assembly.

The name Assembly, shown by the pointer, below, has identified this selection as an assembly of components and has named it as such.

Standard & Isometric Views

Tools | Palettes | Drafting
When a component has been named in the drafting palette, this part can be isolated from the main assembly and displayed from different views in the drafting palette viewing pane, shown below.

Using the Drafting Palette, left click onto Part01:Eye, shown below.

Use the viewing pane, shown below to select the several different views of this part, similar to the illustrations below. In the illustration below, the part is viewed from the World Plan view.

Take Note 

The component in the viewing pane changes the view, but the model in the editor remains unchanged.

Select other parts and use the viewing pane to display the different views, similar to that shown below.  In the illustration below, the pulley is viewed from the Front view.
