Estimated reading: 2 minutes 3 views

In this Task

Acutting plane will be drawn onto a primary view in paper space, then sectioned by defining a line of sight.

Before you Start

The paper space area is active.

An aligned sectional view of Part-03 (Pulley) will be created.  Delete all views of the pulley, excluding the right view. This is referred to as Right World CS in the DraftingPalette.

Zoom in to the top right corner of the paper space layout, or in the region of the pulley.

The Create by ViewLine option of the Drafting Palette allows a view to be sectioned by defining a cutting plane and a line of sight.

Use the 2D Polyline tool to draw a line similar in shape and size to that shown in bold, below.  Activate the GEO tab to align the bisecting line with the center of the circle.

From the top of the Drafting palette, select the Create by View Line, then use the options at the base of the editor to select Aligned View, shown below.

Left click somewhere on the inserted view of pulley, shown circled below.

At the prompt > Define non-closed polyline without self intersections, select the newly drawn polyline.

Line of Sight arrows, shown circled below will determine from which direction the section is viewed.  In the illustration below, the line of sight is indicated by the cursor direction.  Notice the position of the arrows at the start and end of the polyline.

By moving the cursor to the right, shown in the illustration, below, the direction of the line of sight is changed. Left click when the view shown below is found.

A new view will be created in the Component/Assembly selection pane called Aligned Sectional View, shown below.
