In this Task

Workplanes will be placed on the facets to be dimensioned. Workplane by Facet will be used to do this.

Before you Start 

Turn the view to Isometric South East.

Menu options for the Default menu and workspace, the Ribbon and Palettes are provided directly under the Command Name heading.

Dimensioning a Solid

Palette : 3D Model | Workplane | Workplane by Facet
Right click in the Editor | Workplane by Facet
This workplane feature applies a workplane to a selected facet (flat surface) of a 3D object.The Page Up and Page Down keys can be used to cycle between the available facets of the solid.
 

A Workplane must be placed on the facet to be dimensioned. Select Workplane by Facet, and position the cursor on the front face shown below. Left click when the Workplane is aligned to the front face.

When the Workplane is in the position shown above, the Orthogonal dimension tool can be used to insert a dimension in the same plane as the Workplane, shown below.

Dimensions can be placed on any sloped face by aligning the Workplane using either Workplane by Facet or Workplane by 3 Points, shown below.
