Drawing an Exterior Wall

In this example, outside walls of a single-story dwelling will be drawn.

The outside wall thickness will be given as 220, the height will be given as 2700. The walls will be drawn using a Left reference.

Right click onto the Wall tool and apply the settings shown below. Click OK when finished.

Setting the Wall properties

Wall |Left Reference

The walls will be started from the lower left corner and drawn in a clockwise direction. By setting the reference to left, the outside of the wall will always be on the left.

Left click a lower left point in the editor, shown by the pointer below and draw the outline of the walls using the measurements shown below. Use the keyboard TAB key to access the data fields and use Polar coordinates to input the Length and Angle (direction) of the walls.

Take Note

Coordinates to draw this wall are :

Length 7450, Angle 90 | Length 13770, Angle 0 | Length 8360, Angle 270 | Length 8550, Angle 180 | Length 910, Angle 90

Adding a Wall

An exterior wall can be added to an existing plan by drawing from the required vertex. The existing wall will immediately accommodate the wall join for the new wall.

Select the Wall tool and left click onto the vertex shown below. Draw the new wall to a length of 1500 and an angle of 270. Select Finish.

Changing the Wall Reference

In the illustration above, the reference of the newly drawn wall will be changed to Right and the length of the wall will be changed to 1000.

Select the new wall, then activate the Selection Info Tools | Palettes | Selection Info palette. In the Double Line pane, change the reference to right, shown below.

Changing theWall Length

To adjust the length of the wall, select the Metrics pane, then change the Length to 1000, shown below.

The result is shown below.

Take Note

When a wall is removed, the adjacent or connecting walls will automatically close, shown below.
