Split Entity

In this Task 

• The vertical center line will be divided at 2 points so as to remove the segment between the 2 points.

Associated Tasks 

• Selecting and deleting the line segment between the 2 break points.

Before you Start 

• Deactivate the Snap tab at the bottom of the editor.

Take Note 

• The cursor can be aligned to the intended split position on the line – it does not have to connect with the line in the intended split position.
• Menu options for the Default menu and workspace, the Ribbon and Palettes are provided directly under the Command Name heading.
• Instructions for this task are supplied using the Ribbon menu.

Split Entity

Ribbon : Modify | 2D Modifications | Split

Default Menu : Modify | Split

Palette : Modify | Modify | Split Entity

This modification feature allows a single entity, either an arc or a line, to be segmented at a specified position.

The main vertical center line will be divided at 2 points such as to maintain sufficient length for the top and bottom sketches.

Select the Split Entity tool from menu options above, then left click anywhere on the main vertical center line shown below.

At the prompt > Click next to entity to split, select the approximate position to that shown below left.

Select again the main vertical center line, then select a position similar to that shown below right.

Next, use the Select tool to select the segment between the two break points. Use the DEL keyboard key to remove this segment.

The result is shown below.
