Equal Distant Constraint

Estimated reading: 2 minutes 5 views

In this Task

  • The Equal Distance constraint will be used to make the distances between 2 sets of lines equal to each other.

Before you Start

  • Snaps not required.

Take Note

  • Equal Distance Constraints can be removed by deleting the constraint marker.
  • Menu options for the Default menu and workspace, the Ribbon and Palettes are provided directly under the Command Name heading.

Equal Distance Constraint

Ribbon : Insert | Constraint | Equal Distance
Default Menu : Constraints | Equal Distance
Palette : Sketch | Constraints Equal Distance
The Equal Distance constraint maintains a spatial relationship between objects. When the distance between one set of objects is changed, the distance between the second set of objects is correspondingly updated. The spatial distance between the objects is maintained until the Equal Distance constraint is deleted. An Equal Distance constraint symbol is inserted onto corresponding objects to indicate a distance relationship.

The distance between the lines shown between the arrows below will be made equal using the Equal Distance Constraint.

Distances will be made equal

Select the Equal Distance constraint, then select the lines in the sequence shown below. Line 1 and Line 2 will be of equal distance, as will Line 3 and 4.

Select lines in the sequence shown

The result is shown below, with the Equal Distance constraint marker shown by the arrow.
