Line Modification

In this Task 

• The drawing objects will be adjusted using the modification tools.

Take Note 

• The direction (left-to-right or right-to-left) of selection rectangles is important. More information on selection rectangles is provided here.
• The instructions for this task apply to the LTE menu and Workspace, however Video Animation for the LTE and Ribbon Workspace is provided below.

Explode

LTE Menu and Workspace : Modify | Explode (objects must be selected)

The Explode tool reduces a compound entity to its individual components. For example, a rectangle, when exploded comprises 4 single lines instead of a single entity.

 

To modify the lines in the top sketch, the rectangles must be reduced to single line entities. Using a left-to-right window selection shown below, select the top drawing, then select Modify | Explode. This will reduce all compound rectangles to single line objects.

Reselect the base rectangle with the cut-out and Explode this object separately. Use the select tool and select any line to make sure all objects are single-line objects.

Layer Properties

Select the lines which represent center lines and move them to the CL layer.

 

Project Center Line

Use the Line tool with extended ortho activated to draw a new line which is projected from the center line in the lower sketch, shown below.

Draw the line upwards, making sure the line is straight. Hold down the SHIFT key or input the angle.

Select the segment below then delete this segment – this segment is a duplicate as the base line of 2 rectangles lie in the same plane – then use the Trim tool to remove the segment between the 2 verticals, shown below right.

The result, after deleting all segments is shown below.
