3D Subtract

In this Task 

  • The volume of the new extrusion will be subtracted from the primary solid using 3D Subtract.

Associated Tasks 

  • Viewing the result from multiple viewpoints.
  • Using the Suppress Hidden Line mode.
  • Using Draft Render.

Before you Start 

  • View is set to Isometric South East.

Take Note 

  • The order in which the objects are selected is important. Always select the primary solid first, then the subtracting unit.

Ribbon : Modify | 3D Modifications | 3D Boolean | 3D Subtract
Default Menu : Modify | Modify 3D Objects | 3D Boolean Operations | 3D Subtract
Palette : 3D Model | Boolean & Facet | 3D Subtract
This boolean function subtracts a secondary solid from an intersecting primary solid (subtrahend)
 

Select the 3D Subtract tool from the menu options above, then select the primary solid shown below.

Next, select the subtracting unit, defined as the subtrahend, shown below.

The result is shown below.

Delete the original profile, then view the model using the Suppress Hidden Lines rendering mode.
