In this Task 

  • A 2D rectangle will be drawn which will then be modified to produce a 3D solid.
  • The workplane will be activated to assist with the design.

Associated Tasks 

  • Using the Local menu to access the Workplanes.

Before you Start 

  • The Local menu is accessed using the right click mouse button in the editor.

Show/HideWorkplane

Right click in the Editor | Show/Hide Workplane
2D objects, such as circles, rectangles and polygonal shapes can be used as sketch geometry to create a 3D model.The thickness properties of a 2D rectangle can be supplied to provide a height or depth.The Workplane is the surface upon which objects are drawn in 3 dimensional space.
 

Right click in the editor and set the view to World Plan.

Right click in the editor and select Show/Hide Workplane.

Somewhere in the editor, draw a 2D Rectangle measuring 20 x 50, shown below.

Use the Zoom tools to increase or decrease the magnification then right click in the editor and select Fit Workplane to Window from the Workplane toolbar.
