Shrink/Extend Line

In this Task 

• Lines will be shortened and lengthened using the Shrink/Extend Line tool.

Before you Start 

• Snaps not needed.

Take Note 

• Select towards the end of the line which is to be lengthened or shortened.

Shrink/Extend Line

Ribbon : Modify | 2D Modifications | Shrink/Extend Line

Default Menu : Modify | Shrink/Extend Line

Palette : Modify | Modify | Shrink/Extend Line

This modification tool shortens or lengthens a line to a boundary edge.The planar integrity of the modified line is maintained.

Select the vertical line towards the bottom as shown by the lower cursor in the illustration below. A box will be placed on the vertex to indicate from which vertex the line will be reduced. Next, select the horizontal line to which the vertical line should be reduced, shown below.

The result is shown below. Repeat this task, this time shrinking the horizontal line, shown by the box attached to the left vertex, to the vertical line shown by the pointer, shown below.

The result is shown below.
