In this Task 

  • The vertical center line will be lengthened upwards to create a projection line for the orthographic view of the sketch.
  • A new horizontal center line will be drawn.
  • The Parallel tool will be used to offset the new lines.

Before you Start 

  • Make sure there is enough space around the top of the sketch to allow for the projected lines.

Take Note 

  • The new horizontal line is to an approximate length.

Line Length

Ribbon : Modify | 2D Modifications | Line Length
Default Menu : Modify | Line Length
Palette : Modify | Modify | Line Length
This modification tool shortens or lengthens a line to a position specified by the pointing device.A boundary edge is not required.The angle of the line will remain the same when the line length is changed.

Use the Line Length tool to adjust the upward length of the vertical center line. This will serve as a ‘projection’ line for the side view. Left click when a suitable length of this line is obtained.

Next, select the Line tool from menu options above and draw a horizontal line in the approximate position to that shown below. Remember to hold down the keyboard SHIFT key to maintain a straight line.

Use the Parallel tool to create the offsets shown by the dimensions in the sketch below.
