Inserting a Title Block

In this Task 

  • A title block will be inserted from the Blocks palette.

Before you Start 

  • This Task can only be performed successfully in the Paper layout.
  • The Blocks palette is used for this Task. Select Tools > Palettes > Blocks.

Take Note 

  • This Task can only be performed successfully if the Student_2D template was used at the start of this drawing.
  • The title block has attributes attached which are used to input information relating the drawing.

Inserting a Title block from the Blocks Palette

A Block is similar in structure to a group, but it has more powerful characteristics.Blocks can contain data called Attributes text-like information which are assigned to blocks to provide information which is input when the block is inserted into the drawing  which helps to build a database in the drawing.Blocks can be reduced to their constituent parts using Modify > Explode, but any Attributes attached to such Blocks will lose this information.Blocks can only be inserted into the drawing in which they were created.In-place modifications to Blocks can be done using the Edit Content facility.By selecting Finish Edit Block when modifications are done, all instances of the block will be updated in the drawing.Groups can be named on creation by activating the Options > Auto Naming > Blocks > Prompt for Name option.

Open the Blocks palette and click and drag the block named A3 Landscape into the paper layout, shown below.

BlockAttributes

This title block as saved as a Block with Attributes. Attributes are assigned to a block so that specific information relating to the drawing can in input each time the block is inserted.

Input the DRAWN BY attribute into the field provided. Remember, this is an example only and your own information can be input into these fields.

Inputting attributes into the block

Repeat this, inputting information into the relevant attribute fields by using the Next and Previous options to populate the attribute values. When finished, select the Close option. The result should be similar, populated with your own information, to the illustration below.

Take Note 

After insertion, the Attributes of the Title Block can be change by double-clicking onto the Title Block to obtain the Properties Sheet.
