Before you Start

  • Use Tools > Palettes > Materials to display the Materials palette.
  • Switch off the layer for Profile or Sketch block so that only the model remains in the workspace.
  • View is set to Isometric South East.

Material properties are applied to a model to produce a photo-realistic finish when rendered.Material properties and their associated categories respond to realistic light and shadow patterns.

Material properties can be applied to all 3D objects. This allows for photo-realistic rendering when the Quality Render visual style is used.

In this task, a machined steel metal quality will be applied to the finished model.

Select the Metals category from the Materials palette, shown above. Select the model, then double click onto the Stainless Steel property, shown below.

Draft Render

Right click in the workspace and select the Draft Render tool shown above.

The result is shown below.
