In this Task

  • Fillets and chamfers will be applied to selected edges of the rectangle.

Before you Start

  • Use the Zoom tools to adjust the magnification so that the entire rectangle is visible in the workspace.

  • The dimensions in the illustrations below are for measurement information only. Dimensions will be inserted onto the sketch at a later stage of this Session.

The Fillet tool creates an arc or radius between 2 lines, circles or arcs to a specific radius.When blending a polyline, the lines and arcs can remain as a single object, or reduced to a collection of lines and arcs.

Fillet blends will be applied to the 3 corners shown in the illustration below.

A fillet can either join 2 polylines with an arc, or can retain the lines and arcs as separate objects. In this example, the option to retain the independent objects (to lines and arcs) will be used.

Select the Fillet 2D tool from the menu options above.

Use the TAB keyboard key to access the data fields then input 15 into the Radius field. Make sure the option to keep the objects to a collection of lines and arcs is selected, shown by the arrow below.

Select in any order, either the top horizontal or left vertical line shown by the markers below. The result is shown below right.

TAB again to the radius field and input 8. Select in any order, the horizontal or vertical line in the upper right corner, shown in the illustration below left. Repeat for the corresponding line. The result is shown below right.

TAB again to the radius field and input 3. Using the method described above, create a radius of 3 on the lower right corner, shown below.
