In this Task

  • A Rectangle will be drawn to a specific size determined by values input into the Inspector Bar.

Before you Start

  • Start a new drawing using the New from Template option and select the Student_2D template.
  • Layers are available in the Design Director at the right edge of the editor.

Take Note

  • This instructions for this Task are designed for the Ribbon menu and Default workspace, however, video animation is provided for use in the Ribbon Workspace.
  • The Student_2D template is recommended as it contains basic drawing settings to assist with the completion of the tasks in this Training Guide.
  • You will be required to save this drawing at the end of the session as it is used again at a later stage of this guide.

Creating the first Sketch Geometry

This tool draws a rectangle by defining the size A (width) and the size B (length) values.Rectangles are drawn by establishing a point and dragging the cursor to the diagonally opposing corner.A rectangle can be drawn with filleted corners by selecting the ‘fillet corners’ option and inputting a radius.

From the Draw menu, select the Draw 2D panel. Click onto the Line drop-down and select the Rectangle tool.

In the editor, select by left clicking, the intended lower left corner of the rectangle.

Start to move the cursor to the upper right corner. The instruction ‘Define the second corner of the box‘ will appear at the lower left of the corner of the TurboCAD screen.

Press the keyboard TAB key to access the Size A field of the Inspector Bar.

Input 50 then press the TAB key to move to the Size B field.

Input 40 then press enter. This will produce the first rectangle in the workspace.

Use View | Extents to zoom to the extents of the editor, then use the mouse wheel to scroll upwards to enlarge the magnification or scroll downwards to reduce the on-screen magnification.

Hint

The extents of the workspace can be viewed using the keyboard keys CTRL-Backspace.

The Plus or Minus keys of the keyboard can be used to increase or decrease the zoom area.

The wheel of the mouse can be used to increase or decrease the on-screen magnification.
