The Slice feature cleaves through a part by defining either a slice plane or by defining the points of the slice. The cut segment of the model can be retained or discarded.

Slice by 3 Points

This Slice feature cleaves through a part by defining diagonal points from the first point.

In the illustrations below, a 3D Box which is 80 x 100 x 50 is sliced using the sequence shown by the numbers below.

The unit is sliced into 2 parts, shown below right.

Slicing a part using 3 points

The option to retain the slice part is used, creating 2 separate units which share common edges until moved or rotated. In the example below, the green box is rotated using a common edge as the pivot.

Slice by Workplane

This slice feature uses the Workplane as the slice plane.  The entire object will be sliced where the Workplane intersects the part, allowing either portion to be deleted if necessary.

In the illustration below left, a Workplane by 3 Pointshas been placed midway through the polygonal prism.  The illustration shows where the Workplane intersects the part.

Slice by 2 Points (line)

This slice feature cuts through a part along a line defined by 2 points.

In the illustration, below left, 2 points, shown by the numbers slice this object from vertex 1 to midpoint 2.
